Her Majesty’s Theatre,  219 Exhibition St. Melbourne

Originally known as the Alexandra Theatre(1886) and the Queens(1897).

The J.C.Williamson Organisation leased and renovated the theatre c.1900, and renamed it Her Majesty's.

on 25/10/1929, fire engulfed the interior of the theatre, and it was closed for some time.

The undamaged stage area was used by Frank Thring Snr's Efftee Films as a film studio from 1930-34.

The theatre was rebuilt in the "art moderne" style (Architects: Charles N. Hollinshed & Albion Walkley) and reopened as "His Majesty's" on 28/07/1934,    the name was subsequently changed to "Her Majesty's" in 1953 with the coronation of Queen Elizabeth.

The theatre underwent a $12,000,000 major refurbishment in May 2003 following its purchase by TV personality Mike Walsh in 2002.
